Nucleus maintains strict boundary separation between non-production sandboxes and live banking instances.

Test Data & Mock Switches in Sandbox

The Sandbox environment features built-in mocks for Nigerian banking infrastructure:

Simulated BVN Engine: Test BVNs (22222222222, 33333333333) return deterministic KYC profiles for testing KYC Tiers 1 through 3 without incurring NIBSS verification fees.
NIP Inbound / Outbound Simulator: Inbound transfers sent to any generated test NUBAN credit the account instantly with simulated settlement entries.
Credit Bureau Mock: Returns pre-packaged credit history reports (Good Credit, High Arrears, Delinquent) based on the test client’s external ID.

If rate limits are exceeded, the server returns HTTP 429 Too Many Requests with a Retry-After header indicating seconds until requests may resume.
